Johnny Bristol was an American musician, songwriter, and record producer. He was born John William Bristol on February 3, 1939, in Morganton, North Carolina, and passed away on March 21, 2004, in Michigan. Bristol began his music career in the 1950s as a member of the doo-wop group The Five Chords.


In the 1960s and 1970s, Bristol gained recognition for his work as a songwriter and producer for Motown Records. He collaborated with artists like Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and Diana Ross, and co-wrote hits such as "Someday We'll Be Together" by Diana Ross & The Supremes. Bristol also had a successful solo career, with hits like "Hang On In There Baby" and "Love Me for a Reason." He is remembered for his contributions to the soul and R&B music genres.
