Johnny Cash and the Tennessee Three was a country music band that was led by the iconic American singer-songwriter, Johnny Cash. The band was formed in 1957 and consisted of Johnny Cash on vocals and rhythm guitar, Luther Perkins on lead guitar, Marshall Grant on bass, and W.S. Holland on drums. Known for their signature "boom-chicka-boom" sound, the Tennessee Three played a major role in shaping the famous "Johnny Cash sound."


The band gained widespread popularity and success, recording numerous hit songs including "I Walk the Line" and "Folsom Prison Blues." They were known for their unique blend of country, rockabilly, and gospel music that resonated with audiences around the world. Johnny Cash and the Tennessee Three were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992, recognizing their significant contributions to the music industry.
