Artist Bio:
Johnny Horton was an American country music singer and songwriter, born on April 30, 1925, in Los Angeles, California. He rose to fame in the 1950s with his honky-tonk style and storytelling lyrics. Horton's music often focused on historical events and characters, earning him the nickname "The Singing Fisherman." He had several hits during his career, including "The Battle of New Orleans," "North to Alaska," and "Sink the Bismarck."

Tragically, Johnny Horton's life was cut short when he died in a car accident on November 5, 1960, at the age of 35. Despite his untimely death, Horton left a lasting impact on country music and is remembered for his unique blend of traditional country sounds with historical storytelling in his songs. He was posthumously inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001.
