Johnny Horton was an American country music singer and songwriter born on April 30, 1925, in Los Angeles, California. He was known for his historical and narrative songs that often focused on American history and folklore. Horton first gained fame in the late 1950s with hits such as "The Battle of New Orleans" and "North to Alaska." He was known for his distinctive deep voice and energetic performances.


Tragically, Johnny Horton's career was cut short when he died in a car accident on November 5, 1960, at the age of 35. Despite his untimely death, Horton left a lasting impact on country music and is remembered as a pioneer in the genre. He was posthumously inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2009.
