Johnny Kemp was a Bahamian singer and songwriter known for his hit song "Just Got Paid," which reached number one on the US Billboard R&B chart in 1988. Born on August 2, 1959, Kemp began his music career in the late 1970s as a member of the band Kinky Fox before pursuing a solo career. In addition to "Just Got Paid," Kemp released other successful singles such as "Dancin' with Myself" and "Birthday Suit."

Tragically, Johnny Kemp passed away on April 16, 2015, at the age of 55. His sudden death occurred while he was on a cruise ship, where he was scheduled to perform. Kemp's music continues to be celebrated by fans of R&B and dance music, with "Just Got Paid" remaining a popular track at parties and on radio stations.
