He is best known for his hit songs, including "I Can See Clearly Now," which reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1972. Nash's music blended reggae, pop, and soul, and he was one of the first non-Jamaican artists to record reggae music in Kingston, Jamaica.
Aside from his music career, Nash also had success as an actor, appearing in films such as "Take a Giant Step" and "Key Witness." He was a pioneer in promoting reggae music to international audiences and played a significant role in popularizing the genre outside of Jamaica.
