Johnny Paycheck, born Donald Eugene Lytle on May 31, 1938, was an American country music singer and songwriter. He is best known for his hit songs "Take This Job and Shove It" and "She's All I Got." Paycheck began his music career in the 1960s, signing with various record labels and releasing a string of successful country music singles. He earned the nickname "Johnny Paycheck" early in his career due to his frequent money-related troubles.
In addition to his solo career, Paycheck was also a member of the Grand Ole Opry and collaborated with other country music legends such as George Jones and Merle Haggard. Despite his success, Paycheck struggled with legal issues and personal problems throughout his life. He passed away on February 19, 2003, leaving behind a legacy as a talented and influential figure in country music.
