Artist Bio

Artist Bio:
Johnny Preston was an American pop singer who rose to fame in the early 1960s. He was born on August 18, 1939, in Port Arthur, Texas, and began his music career by performing in local talent shows. Preston's big break came in 1959 when he recorded the song "Running Bear," which became a major hit, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song was a duet with fellow singer J.P. Richardson, also known as The Big Bopper.

Following the success of "Running Bear," Preston continued to release music throughout the 1960s, although he never quite reached the same level of commercial success. Some of his other notable songs include "Cradle of Love" and "Feel So Fine." Johnny Preston passed away on March 4, 2011, but his music continues to be remembered and appreciated by fans of 1960s pop music.
