Johnny Rivers is an American musician, singer, and songwriter who was born on November 7, 1942, in New York City. He found success in the 1960s and 1970s with a string of hits that included "Memphis," "Secret Agent Man," and "Poor Side of Town." Rivers is known for his rock and roll and rhythm and blues style, and he was influential in the development of the "Go-Go" sound of the mid-1960s.
Rivers is also well-known for his live performances and was a regular performer at the Whisky a Go Go nightclub in Los Angeles. He has released over 30 albums throughout his career and continues to tour and perform live. Rivers was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2010, recognizing his contributions to the music industry.
