He had a string of hits in the early 1960s, including "Poetry in Motion," "It Keeps Right On a-Hurtin'," and "Talk Back Trembling Lips."
Tillotson was signed to Cadence Records and later MGM Records during his career. He continued to record and perform throughout the 1960s and beyond, and he remains a popular figure in the world of oldies music. Tillotson was inducted into the Florida Artists Hall of Fame in 2018 in recognition of his contributions to music.
