Joy of Cooking was an American folk-rock band that was formed in Berkeley, California in the late 1960s. The band was fronted by two female vocalists, Terry Garthwaite and Toni Brown, who also played guitar and piano respectively. The other members of the band included bassist David Garthwaite, drummer Fritz Kasten, and guitarist Ron Wilson. Joy of Cooking released their self-titled debut album in 1970, which was well-received and showcased their unique blend of folk, rock, blues, and jazz influences. The album featured original songs as well as covers of traditional folk tunes.
Their music was known for its intricate vocal harmonies and diverse instrumentation. Joy of Cooking disbanded in the mid-1970s but reunited in the 2000s for occasional performances. Their music continues to be celebrated for its timeless quality and influence on the folk-rock genre.
