Jr. Walker & The All Stars was an American soul and R&B band formed in 1964 in Michigan. The band was led by saxophonist and vocalist Autry DeWalt Mixon Jr., known professionally as Jr. Walker. The All Stars included musicians such as Victor Thomas (drums), Willie Woods (guitar), and James Graves (keyboards). They were signed to the Motown label and quickly gained fame for their energetic live performances and hit songs.
One of their most well-known songs is "Shotgun," released in 1965, which reached the top spot on the Billboard R&B chart and the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Jr. Walker & The All Stars continued to release successful singles throughout the 1960s and 1970s, including "What Does It Take (To Win Your Love)" and "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)." They were known for their tight musicianship and infectious grooves, solidifying their place in the history of soul music.
