Jr. Walker & The All Stars was an American soul and R&B band formed in the early 1960s. The group's leader and namesake, Jr. Walker, was born Autry DeWalt Mixon Jr. in Blytheville, Arkansas in 1931. The band achieved success in the 1960s and 1970s with hits such as "Shotgun" and "What Does It Take (To Win Your Love)". Jr. Walker's raspy, emotive saxophone playing was a defining feature of the group's sound, earning him a reputation as one of the great R&B saxophonists of the era.
Jr. Walker & The All Stars were signed to the Motown label and had a string of successful singles on the Billboard charts, as well as a reputation for their energetic live performances.
