She gained popularity with hits like "Storybook Children" and "Private Number," the latter being a duet with William Bell.


William Bell, born in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1939, is a renowned soul singer and songwriter. He was a major figure in the Stax Records music label, known for hits like "You Don't Miss Your Water" and "Born Under a Bad Sign." Bell collaborated with Judy Clay on the 1968 duet "Private Number," which became a significant success on the R&B charts. Both artists continued their solo careers, with Judy Clay tragically passing away in 2001, and William Bell continuing to perform and release music.
