Kansas is an American rock band that was formed in Topeka, Kansas in 1970. The band gained popularity in the 1970s with their mix of progressive rock and Southern rock influences. Known for their intricate arrangements and incorporating violin into their music, Kansas achieved commercial success with hit singles such as "Carry On Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind." Their album "Leftoverture" from 1976 is considered one of their most successful and is certified 5x Platinum in the United States.
Kansas has undergone several lineup changes over the years, but founding member Phil Ehart (drums) and Rich Williams (guitar) continue to be part of the band. They have released over 15 studio albums, with their most recent being "The Absence of Presence" in 2020. Kansas continues to tour and perform, showcasing their classic hits to audiences around the world.
