Kansas is an American rock band that formed in Topeka, Kansas in 1970. The band's original lineup consisted of vocalist and keyboardist Steve Walsh, guitarist Kerry Livgren, guitarist Richard Williams, bassist Dave Hope, drummer Phil Ehart, and violinist Robby Steinhardt. Kansas is known for their unique and eclectic sound that combines elements of progressive rock, hard rock, and symphonic rock. The band achieved commercial success in the 1970s and 1980s with hits like "Carry on Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind".


Kansas has released over 15 studio albums, with their self-titled debut album being released in 1974. The band's most successful album, "Leftoverture", was released in 1976 and is certified 4x Platinum in the United States. Kansas has undergone numerous lineup changes over the years, but they continue to tour and release new music, maintaining a dedicated fan base.
