Kansas is an American rock band that was formed in Topeka, Kansas in 1970. The band is known for their unique blend of progressive rock and Southern rock, as well as incorporating elements of hard rock and heavy metal into their music. Kansas achieved mainstream success in the 1970s with hit songs like "Carry on Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind," both of which have become classic rock staples.


Throughout their career, Kansas has released over 15 studio albums and has sold more than 30 million records worldwide. The band has undergone several lineup changes over the years, but original members Phil Ehart (drums) and Richard Williams (guitar) have remained consistent members.
