Katrina and the Waves was a British-American rock band formed in 1981 by vocalist Katrina Leskanich, guitarist Kimberley Rew, and drummer Alex Cooper. The band achieved international success in the 1980s and 1990s with their upbeat pop-rock sound.
Their biggest hit, "Walking on Sunshine," released in 1985, reached the top 10 in the UK and US charts and has since become a popular anthem. In 1997, they won the Eurovision Song Contest representing the United Kingdom with the song "Love Shine a Light." Despite lineup changes over the years, Katrina and the Waves continued to perform and record music until their final album release in 1999.
