Katrina and the Waves were a British-American rock band formed in 1981 by vocalist Katrina Leskanich and guitarist Kimberley Rew. The band's self-titled debut album was released in 1985, and they achieved international success with their hit single "Walking on Sunshine" in 1985, which reached the top 10 in multiple countries. The song has since become a popular anthem and is still widely recognized today.
In 1997, the band won the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Love Shine a Light," representing the United Kingdom. Despite their initial success, Katrina and the Waves struggled to maintain their commercial momentum in the following years. The band officially disbanded in 1999, with Katrina Leskanich pursuing a solo career. Katrina and the Waves left a lasting impact on the music industry with their infectious pop-rock sound and memorable hits.
