Katrina and the Waves was a British-American rock band formed in 1981. The band's lead vocalist, Katrina Leskanich, originally from Topeka, Kansas, was known for her powerful and distinctive voice. The band's signature song "Walking on Sunshine" was released in 1985 and became a major international hit, reaching the top 10 in many countries.
In 1997, Katrina and the Waves achieved further success by winning the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Love Shine a Light," representing the United Kingdom. Despite their success, the band eventually disbanded in the late 1990s. Katrina Leskanich continued to perform as a solo artist, while the band's music remained popular and continued to be celebrated for its upbeat, catchy melodies and feel-good vibes.
