Haring moved to New York City in 1978 to attend the School of Visual Arts, where he became involved in the city's thriving alternative art scene.
Haring gained widespread recognition in the 1980s for his public art, which often tackled political and social issues such as AIDS awareness, apartheid, and the crack cocaine epidemic. His work was characterized by its accessibility and inclusivity, with Haring believing that art should be for everyone. Tragically, Haring passed away from AIDS-related complications on February 16, 1990, at the young age of 31. Despite his untimely death, Haring's influence on the art world continues to be felt today, with his legacy living on through his vibrant and thought-provoking artwork.
