Kim Carnes is an American singer-songwriter born on July 20, 1945, in Los Angeles, California. She is best known for her distinctive raspy voice and hit songs in the 1980s, most notably "Bette Davis Eyes," which topped the charts in 1981 and won her a Grammy Award for Record of the Year. Carnes began her music career in the 1960s as part of the folk duo The New Christy Minstrels before pursuing a solo career in the 1970s.


Throughout her career, Kim Carnes released several successful albums and singles, including "More Love" and "Crazy in the Night (Barking at Airplanes)." She has also written songs for other artists such as Kenny Rogers and Barbra Streisand. Carnes continues to perform and write music, showcasing her unique vocal style and songwriting talent to audiences around the world.
