King Curtis was an American saxophonist who was born on February 7, 1934, in Fort Worth, Texas, and passed away on August 13, 1971, in New York City. He was a prominent figure in the soul and R&B music scenes during the 1950s and 1960s. Curtis gained fame for his distinctive style of playing the saxophone, which combined elements of jazz, R&B, and rock and roll.


Throughout his career, King Curtis recorded numerous albums as a bandleader and collaborated with many renowned musicians, including Aretha Franklin, Sam Cooke, and Buddy Holly. He also achieved commercial success with his instrumental singles, such as "Soul Twist" and "Memphis Soul Stew." King Curtis was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000, recognizing his significant contributions to the music industry.
