Artist Bio:
King Floyd was an American soul singer and songwriter, best known for his 1970 hit song "Groove Me." Born on February 13, 1945, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Floyd began his music career in the 1960s as a guitarist and vocalist in various local bands. He later signed with the record label Malaco Records and released his debut album in 1971, which included his most famous song, "Groove Me." The song reached number one on the Billboard R&B chart and number six on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Despite the success of "Groove Me," King Floyd never achieved the same level of commercial success with his subsequent releases. He continued to record and perform throughout the 1970s and 1980s, but did not match the popularity of his early hit. King Floyd passed away on March 6, 2006, leaving behind a legacy as a one-hit wonder in the soul music genre.
