Ko Ko Taylor, born as Cora Walton on September 28, 1928, in Memphis, Tennessee, was an influential American blues singer and musician. She is often referred to as the "Queen of the Blues" and was known for her powerful and soulful voice. Taylor began her music career in the 1950s and gained widespread recognition in the 1960s and 1970s through her electrifying live performances and hit songs such as "Wang Dang Doodle" and "I'm a Woman."


Throughout her career, Taylor received numerous awards and accolades, including a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album in 1985. She was also inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1997. Taylor's distinctive voice and energetic stage presence left a lasting impact on the blues music genre, and she is remembered as one of the most iconic female blues artists of all time. Ko Ko Taylor passed away on June 3, 2009, leaving behind a legacy of timeless blues music that continues to inspire and influence musicians to this day.
