Kool & The Gang is an American band formed in Jersey City, New Jersey in 1964. The group initially started as a jazz ensemble before transitioning to a fusion of jazz, soul, and funk in the 1970s. They achieved mainstream success in the 1970s and 1980s with hits like "Celebration," "Jungle Boogie," and "Get Down on It." The band's lineup has changed over the years, but founding members Robert "Kool" Bell (bass) and Ronald Bell (saxophone) remained constant fixtures. Kool & The Gang has won multiple awards over the years, including two Grammy Awards and seven American Music Awards.
