The group's original members were Robert "Kool" Bell, Ronald Bell, Dennis Thomas, Robert "Spike" Mickens, Charles Smith, George Brown, and Ricky West. Kool & The Gang rose to fame in the 1970s and 1980s with hits such as "Celebration," "Jungle Boogie," "Get Down On It," and "Ladies' Night." Their music has been widely influential and they have won numerous awards including two Grammy Awards.
