Laura Branigan was an American singer, songwriter, and actress who rose to fame in the 1980s. She was born on July 3, 1952, in Brewster, New York, and began her music career as a backing vocalist for various artists before releasing her debut album, "Branigan," in 1982. Branigan's breakthrough came with the release of the single "Gloria," which reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female.


Throughout her career, Branigan released several successful albums, including "Self Control" and "Touch," and had hits with songs like "Solitaire" and "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You." She also ventured into acting, appearing in TV shows like "CHiPs" and films like "Mugsy's Girls." Branigan continued to perform and record music until her untimely death on August 26, 2004, at the age of 52. Despite her passing, her music continues to be celebrated by fans around the world.
