Artist Bio:
LaVern Baker was an American rhythm and blues singer known for her powerful voice and energetic performances. She was born Delores Evans in Chicago in 1929 and began her music career in the 1940s. Baker achieved success in the 1950s with hits such as "Tweedle Dee" and "Jim Dandy." She was known for her versatility, being able to sing various styles including R&B, rock and roll, and jazz. Baker was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991.


Jimmy Ricks was an American bass singer known for his deep, resonant voice. He was born in Florida in 1924 and rose to fame as the lead singer of the Ravens, a successful R&B vocal group in the 1940s and 1950s. Ricks was known for his distinctive vocal style and was often referred to as "The Bronze Bull." He had hits with the Ravens such as "Old Man River" and "Count Every Star." Ricks later collaborated with LaVern Baker on the duet "You're the Boss," which became a popular song in the early 1960s.
