Lee Dorsey was an American rhythm and blues and soul singer who was born on December 24, 1924, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dorsey began his music career in the 1950s, but it was in the 1960s that he achieved his greatest success. He is best known for hits such as "Ya Ya," "Working in the Coal Mine," and "Ride Your Pony." Dorsey's music was characterized by his smooth vocals, catchy melodies, and infectious rhythms, which helped him become a prominent figure in the New Orleans music scene.


Dorsey's music was popular not only in the United States but also in the United Kingdom, where he gained a strong following. He continued to perform and record music throughout the 1970s and 1980s, collaborating with other artists such as Allen Toussaint. Lee Dorsey passed away on December 1, 1986, leaving behind a lasting legacy of influential and timeless soul music.
