Lee Michaels is an American rock musician and songwriter who gained popularity in the late 1960s and 1970s. Born Michael Olsen on November 24, 1945, in Los Angeles, California, he started his music career as a member of various bands before embarking on a successful solo career. Michaels is known for his distinctive vocals and impressive keyboard skills, particularly on the Hammond organ and piano.
In 1968, Lee Michaels released his debut album, titled "Carnival of Life," and went on to record several more albums over the years, including the critically acclaimed "5th" and "Barrel." One of his most well-known songs is "Do You Know What I Mean," which reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1971. Lee Michaels continues to be respected in the rock music community for his unique sound and energetic live performances.
