Artist Bio:
Lee Morgan was an American jazz trumpeter and composer, born on July 10, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He began playing the trumpet at a young age and quickly gained recognition for his talent. Morgan was discovered by Dizzy Gillespie when he was just 18 years old, and he joined Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers shortly after. He went on to become a prominent figure in the hard bop and bebop jazz scenes of the 1950s and 1960s.

Morgan recorded prolifically as a bandleader, releasing over 25 albums during his career. Some of his most famous recordings include "The Sidewinder" and "Cornbread." Known for his distinctive sound and energetic playing style, Morgan was highly respected within the jazz community. Tragically, his life was cut short when he was shot and killed by his common-law wife at the age of 33 in 1972. Despite his premature death, Lee Morgan's legacy lives on through his influential recordings and contributions to the world of jazz music.
