Artist Bio:
Leon Haywood was an American singer, songwriter, and record producer, best known for his solo hit "I Want'a Do Something Freaky to You," which was later sampled by Dr. Dre in the song "Nuthin' But a 'G' Thang." Haywood began his music career in the 1960s as a session musician, playing for artists such as Sam Cooke and Etta James. He later transitioned to a solo career, releasing a series of successful R&B and funk albums in the 1970s and 1980s.


In addition to his own music career, Haywood also worked as a producer and songwriter for other artists, including producing hits for artists such as The Whispers and Carl Carlton. He continued to perform and record music throughout his career, and his work has left a lasting impact on the R&B and funk music genres. Leon Haywood passed away in 2016 at the age of 74.
