He was born on August 26, 1949, in Cyprus and his birth name was Dickran Gobalian. Redbone was known for his deep, gravelly voice and his penchant for wearing sunglasses, a Panama hat, and a suit. He gained popularity in the 1970s and 1980s with his unique interpretations of classic songs from the early 20th century.
Redbone released over a dozen albums during his career, including well-received projects like "On the Track" and "Double Time." He also made several television appearances, including on "Saturday Night Live" and "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson." Leon Redbone retired from performing in 2015 due to health issues and passed away on May 30, 2019, leaving behind a legacy of timeless music that continues to captivate audiences.
