Leon Russell was an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer who was born on April 2, 1942, in Lawton, Oklahoma, and passed away on November 13, 2016. He was known for his influential work in the genres of rock, blues, and country music. Russell's music career spanned over five decades, during which he collaborated with numerous notable artists, such as Bob Dylan, Elton John, and Willie Nelson.


Russell achieved commercial success as a solo artist with hits like "Tight Rope" and "Lady Blue." He was also a highly sought-after session musician and played a key role in the development of the "Tulsa Sound," a hybrid of rock, country, blues, and gospel music. Throughout his career, Leon Russell released over 30 albums and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011 for his contributions to the music industry.
