Lesley Gore was an American singer, songwriter, and actress, born on May 2, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York. She rose to fame in the 1960s with her hit songs "It's My Party" and "You Don't Own Me." Gore was discovered by Quincy Jones and signed to Mercury Records at the age of 16. She became known for her powerful voice and emotional delivery, which resonated with a young audience at the time.


Aside from her music career, Lesley Gore also appeared in films and television shows, including the 1967 cult classic "The Girls on the Beach."
