Artist Bio:
Lesley Gore was an American singer, songwriter, actress, and activist, born on May 2, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York. She rose to fame in the early 1960s with her hit song "It's My Party," which reached the top of the charts in 1963 when she was just 16 years old. Gore continued to have success with other hits like "Judy's Turn to Cry" and "You Don't Own Me."


Aside from her music career, Lesley Gore also appeared in several television shows and movies, including the 1967 film "The Girls on the Beach." Later in her career, she became an advocate for LGBTQ rights and was openly gay herself. Gore was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2008 and continued to perform and make public appearances until her passing on February 16, 2015, due to lung cancer.
