Artist Bio:
Letters to Cleo is an alternative rock band from Boston, Massachusetts, formed in 1990. The band's name is a reference to the character Cleopatra in the TV show "H.R. Pufnstuf." The group gained popularity in the mid-1990s with their catchy hooks, melodic harmonies, and energetic live performances. The band's lineup has changed over the years, but lead vocalist Kay Hanley and guitarist Greg McKenna have been consistent members.
Letters to Cleo released their debut album, "Aurora Gory Alice," in 1993, which included the hit song "Here & Now." They achieved mainstream success with their appearance on the soundtrack for the 1999 film "10 Things I Hate About You," with the song "Cruel to Be Kind." The band went on hiatus in 2000, but reunited in 2008 and continues to perform occasional shows. Their music is characterized by a mix of power-pop and alternative rock influences, and they remain a beloved part of the 1990s alternative music scene.
