The duo released their debut album "Brown and Proud" in 1990, which featured the hit single "On a Sunday Afternoon."

In 1992, Lighter Shade of Brown released their most successful album, "Brown & Proud," which included their biggest hit "Hey DJ." The song peaked at number 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and received significant airplay on urban and rhythmic radio stations.
