Lighter Shade of Brown was an American hip hop duo from Riverside, California, consisting of members Bobby "D" and ODM. They were active in the 1990s and were known for their blend of hip hop and Latin music, often referred to as Latin hip hop. The duo released their debut album "Brown and Proud" in 1990, which featured the hit single "On a Sunday Afternoon."
In 1992, Lighter Shade of Brown released their most successful album, "Brown & Proud," which included their biggest hit "Hey DJ." The song peaked at number 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and received significant airplay on urban and rhythmic radio stations. Lighter Shade of Brown continued to release music throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, maintaining a loyal fan base within the hip hop and Latin music communities.
