Lighter Shade of Brown was a Chicano hip-hop duo from Riverside, California, consisting of Bobby "DTTX" Ramirez and ODM (One Dope Mexican), originally formed in 1990. They gained popularity in the early 1990s with their mix of hip-hop and Latin music, often referred to as "Latin hip-hop."


Their debut album, "Brown and Proud," was released in 1990 and featured their hit single "On a Sunday Afternoon," which reached the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Lighter Shade of Brown continued to release several albums throughout the 1990s, including "Hip Hop Locos" and "Layin' in the Cut." The duo is considered pioneers in the Latin hip-hop genre and helped pave the way for other Latino artists in the music industry.
