In the 1960s, she signed with Atlantic Records and achieved success with her soulful rendition of the country song "Release Me," which became a top ten hit on the pop and R&B charts. Throughout her career, Phillips released numerous albums and singles, showcasing her powerful voice and emotional delivery. She continued to perform and record music until her untimely death at the age of 48.
