Little Eva was an American singer, known for her hit song "The Loco-Motion" in 1962. Born Eva Narcissus Boyd on June 29, 1943, in Belhaven, North Carolina, she was discovered by songwriting duo Carole King and Gerry Goffin while working as a maid. They wrote "The Loco-Motion" specifically for her, and the song became a massive success, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.


Following the success of "The Loco-Motion," Little Eva released several more singles, including "Keep Your Hands Off My Baby" and "Let's Turkey Trot." She continued to perform and record music throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Little Eva passed away on April 10, 2003, at the age of 59 in Kinston, North Carolina, leaving behind a musical legacy that includes one of the most iconic dance songs of the 1960s.
