Born Richard Wayne Penniman on December 5, 1932, in Macon, Georgia, he is considered one of the pioneers of rock and roll music. Known for his dynamic performance style and flamboyant personality, Little Richard was a key figure in the early development of the genre. He had a string of hit songs during the 1950s, including "Tutti Frutti," "Long Tall Sally," and "Good Golly, Miss Molly."


Little Richard was also known for his androgynous appearance and energetic stage presence, which had a lasting impact on the music industry. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1993. Little Richard passed away on May 9, 2020, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most influential figures in the history of rock and roll music.
