Artist Bio:
Little Willie John, born William Edward John in 1937, was an American R&B singer known for his powerful voice and energetic stage presence. He began his music career at a young age, performing with his siblings in gospel groups before transitioning to rhythm and blues. John's breakthrough came in 1955 with the release of his hit song "All Around the World," which reached the top of the R&B charts. He went on to record several more successful singles, including "Fever," which became his signature song and a classic in the R&B genre.
Despite his success, John's career was cut short by personal troubles, including legal issues and substance abuse problems. In 1966, he was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to prison, where he tragically died in 1968 at the age of 30. Despite his untimely death, Little Willie John's music continues to be celebrated for its influence on R&B and soul music, and he was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.
