Lorne Greene, born Lyon Himan Green, was a Canadian actor and musician who was born on February 12, 1915, and passed away on September 11, 1987. He is perhaps best known for his role as Ben Cartwright on the television series "Bonanza," which aired from 1959 to 1973. Greene's portrayal of the patriarch of the Cartwright family made him a household name and solidified his place in television history.
In addition to his acting career, Greene was also a successful musician. He released several spoken word albums, including the 1964 album "Welcome to the Ponderosa," which featured him reciting poetry over western-themed music. Greene's deep, distinctive voice was a key part of his persona and contributed to his popularity both on screen and in his music career.
