Los Lobos is a Chicano rock band formed in East Los Angeles in 1973. The band's original lineup consisted of David Hidalgo, Cesar Rosas, Louie Pérez, Conrad Lozano, and Steve Berlin. Known for their eclectic sound that blends rock, Tex-Mex, country, folk, R&B, blues, and traditional Spanish and Mexican music, Los Lobos gained international fame with their cover of Ritchie Valens' song "La Bamba" for the 1987 film of the same name. The band has released over a dozen studio albums and has won several Grammy Awards, including Best Mexican-American Performance for "Anselma" in 1984 and Best Pop Instrumental Performance for "Mariachi Suite" in 1995.
Los Lobos is also known for their collaborations with other artists, such as Bob Dylan, Jerry Garcia, and Ry Cooder. They are highly respected for their musicianship and ability to seamlessly incorporate diverse musical influences into their own unique sound. Los Lobos continues to tour and record new music, maintaining a dedicated fan base around the world.
