Louis Prima was an American singer, songwriter, and bandleader, born on December 7, 1910, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was known for his energetic performances and charismatic stage presence, blending jazz, swing, and rhythm and blues styles in his music. Prima achieved great success in the 1930s and 1940s with his band, Louis Prima and His New Orleans Gang.
In the 1950s and 1960s, Prima experienced a career resurgence with hits like "Jump, Jive an' Wail" and "Just a Gigolo/I Ain't Got Nobody". He also collaborated with singer Keely Smith, whom he later married. Prima's music had a lasting influence on the development of rock and roll, and he was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2010. Louis Prima passed away on August 24, 1978, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most dynamic entertainers of his time.
