Lucille Starr, born Lucille Raymonde Marie Savoie on May 13, 1938, was a Canadian singer and songwriter. She was best known for her country and pop music, with her most famous song being "The French Song" (1964), which became a hit in both English and French-speaking markets. Starr was one of the first Canadian artists to have success in both English and French-language music.


Starr began her career in the late 1950s and continued performing and recording music through the 1960s and 1970s. She was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in 1987 in recognition of her contributions to the country music genre. Lucille Starr passed away on September 4, 2020, leaving behind a legacy as a pioneering artist who bridged cultural and linguistic divides through her music.
