He is best known for his hit songs "If Loving You Is Wrong (I Don't Want to Be Right)" and "Ain't That Loving You (For More Reasons Than One)." "If Loving You Is Wrong (I Don't Want to Be Right)" reached the top of the Billboard R&B chart and peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1972. The song has since been covered by various artists and remains a classic in the soul genre.


Ingram began his music career in the 1960s and released several albums throughout the 1970s and 1980s. He was known for his emotive vocal delivery and heartfelt lyrics that resonated with audiences.
