He is known for his smooth and soulful voice, which earned him the title "The Velvet Voice." Vandross began his music career in the 1970s as a background vocalist for artists like David Bowie and Chic before launching a successful solo career.


Throughout his career, Vandross released numerous hit songs and albums, including "Never Too Much," "Here and Now," and "Dance with My Father." He won eight Grammy Awards and sold over 35 million records worldwide. Vandross was also known for his collaborations with other artists, such as Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, and Aretha Franklin. He was a highly respected figure in the music industry and is considered one of the greatest R&B singers of all time. Vandross passed away on July 1, 2005, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the world of music.
